Red Wings

It was my day off, so I thought "What Better way to spend an afternoon than to drive two hours to hound a last place and crappy signing teams?"  At least the guys I got I had never met in person before, one of which was a Hall of Famer (Cheli has mellowed since his playing days).  Overall, 9 stinking signatures!  I missed Franz Nielsen and Riley Sheahan ignored me.

This Day in Sens History (4 days late)

March 8, 1999

Damian Rhodes lets in 2 goals on the first 2 shots, but Sens storm back in a big way and beat the Lightning 9-3.  Magnus Arvedson records a hat trick, and Vincent Lecavalier & Marian Hossa scrap.

Women's Hockey and Bruins Alumni

A rare hounding weekend for me.  I don't do it much anymore since chances for success are few and far between.

On Saturday night, I went with Tyler, Beth and her Dad to Ottawa U to get the Calgary and Montreal teams battling for the Clarkson Cup of the CWHL.  I'll just say they are much nicer than the majority of NHL players, which is easy to be when you're not under as big a microscope.  A couple of players were a tad crusty (cough, cough, Caroline Ouellette, Meaghan Mikkelson) but everybody signed.  Well, except Rebecca Johnston, who went for a jog and never came back.  Also, these girls are much nicer to look at than toothless, stubbled, smelly men!  So here is who I got:

Bailey Bram x 4
Jessica Campbell x 3
Sarah Davis x 4
Brianne Jenner x 6
Charline Labonte x 4
Genevieve Lacasse x 4
Brigette Lacquette x 4
Emerance Maschmeyer (RRRRROWR!) x 3
Meaghan Mikkleson x 3
Caroline Ouellette (Madame Crust) x 4
Marie Philip-Poulin (Madame Clutch) x7
Laurianne Rougeau x 3
Jillian Saulnier x 3
Blayre Turnbull x 1

On Sunday, I went to Brockville to attend the VIP Bruins Alumni Meet and Greet.  It was $100 for that and the brunch buffet (which was disgusting; I think I'll volunteer to cook it next time).  Expensive, but it was well worth it.  Tim Sweeney and Al Iafrate were a joy to talk with.  The organizers said players would only sign two a shot, but that was ignored by everyone.

I showed Tim Sweeney a full page and he signed the first two.  He asked if I wanted the rest signed, and I said sure as long as they don't say anything, and he was like "Who gives a shit."  We talked a lot about the old 90s cards I had and his experience with first year Ducks.  Bourque signed 6 the first time around with no hassle (He commented, "Jesus Christ those are old," when he saw my cards).

I went back in line to get the rest of my stuff signed.  The organizers, again, told us to limit to two per person.  Hell, don't tell us, tell the players!  If they're willing to sign that many, I'm not going to say "No, I wish to abide by the organizer's request, and politely turn down any offers to sign more than the allotted amount."  Besides, if I'm forking out good money, I want my money's worth!

Ray Bourque x 8
Al Iafrate x 2 (usually a strict 2-per, I would've brought more had I known the set up)
Guy Larose x 4
Ken Linseman x 6
Rick Middleton x 5
Rick Smith x 1
Tim Sweeney x 11

Reggie Lemelin and Bob Sweeney were no shows,
